Connect a device
1What you need
- An iPhone and a USB cable that supports data transfer.
- A Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC to run the device manager.
- A CloudClick iOS console account.
- The installers: the Windows device manager, plus the WebDriverAgent and CloudClick iOS app IPAs. Download them below.
- Signing certificates: a .p12 certificate and matching .mobileprovision profile for each device. Jailbroken devices with AppSync Unified installed can skip signing and need no certificate.
iOS Device Manager
v0.1·Windows 10 / 11 · portable, unzip and run
WebDriverAgent
v1.0·iOS 13 and later · IPA
CloudClick iOS app
v1.4.0·iOS 13 and later · IPA
Release notes and SHA-256 checksums for every version are on the Downloads page →
The provisioning profile must include the device's UDID. If you do not have certificates yet, export the UDIDs in the next step and use them to obtain certificates.
2Connect the device and export its UDID
- 1
Open the device manager
Unzip the downloaded ios-manager package and run ios-manager.exe inside it.
- 2
Connect and trust the computer
Connect the iPhone with the cable. When the phone asks "Trust This Computer?", tap Trust and enter your passcode.
- 3
Refresh the device list
Click Refresh in the tool. The device appears in the list with its name, UDID and iOS version.
- 4
Copy or export the UDID
Click the UDID on a device card to copy it. With many devices, use Export UDIDs to save all connected devices' UDIDs to a .txt file.
3Set up signing
Click Signing in the tool and choose one option:
- Certificate signing: choose the certificate folder. It holds one subfolder per device, named after the device's UDID, containing the .p12 certificate, the .mobileprovision profile and, if the certificate has a password, a .txt file containing it (any file name, e.g. password.txt).
- No signing (jailbroken): choose this when the device is jailbroken with AppSync Unified installed. The original IPA is installed directly, with no certificate.

│ ├── xxx.p12 ← certificate
│ ├── xxx.mobileprovision ← provisioning profile
│ └── password.txt ← certificate password (any .txt file name)
└── 00008030-000B1C2D3E4F5A6B/
└── …Your choices are saved in settings.json next to the tool, so you do not need to select them again next time.
4Install WebDriverAgent and the app
- 1
Choose the package
Click Select IPA and select the downloaded WebDriverAgent.ipa.
- 2
Sign and install
Click Install IPA on the device card. For several devices, click Install All; the tool signs and installs for each device in turn and shows progress in the status bar.
- 3
Repeat for the app
Install the CloudClick iOS app package (CloudClick iOS-<version>.ipa) the same way.
If you see "certificate not found for device", check that the folder name in the certificate directory exactly matches the device's UDID.
5Enable Developer Mode and activate
- 1
Turn on Developer Mode (iOS 16 and later)
On the iPhone, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode, turn it on, restart when prompted, and confirm after the restart.
- 2
Activate the device
Keep the phone unlocked, return to the device manager and click Activate on the device card, or Activate All for several devices. The tool mounts the developer disk image and starts WebDriverAgent. The device is ready when its status shows Activated.
WebDriverAgent must be installed before activation; otherwise the tool reports that WDA is not installed on the device.
6Sign in on the app
- 1
Allow location access
Open the CloudClick iOS app on the iPhone and allow location access when asked. The app relies on background location to keep running, so choose Always Allow.
- 2
Connect to the official server
Go to the Settings tab, set the connection mode to Official server, and tap to connect.
- 3
Enter your account details
Enter your console username and password, then tap Connect. They are used only to obtain this device's access key and are not stored on the phone.
- 4
Check the connection
Back on the Status tab, the server connection should show Connected and the WDA status Running.
7Find the device in the console
Open the console at https://developer.wtscript.com. Once the device appears in the device list as online, you can start casting its screen and running scripts.
If the console shows WDA as disconnected after the phone restarts, connect it to the PC and activate it again in the device manager.
Start automating
Record your first script
- 1
Open the recorder
Open the recorder in the console and pick a connected device. Its screen is cast to the browser in real time.
- 2
Perform the task on screen
Tap, swipe and type directly on the cast screen; each action becomes a step. Where you need an element locator, open the inspector and select the node to generate the expression.
- 3
Replay to verify
Replay the script on the same device to confirm every step works. Logs are shown live.
- 4
Save the script
Turn values you expect to change into script parameters, then save. The result is readable JavaScript that you can keep editing in the code playground.
Publish a task and run it at scale
- 1
Publish the task
Publish the verified script as a task and choose the device group to run it on.
- 2
Set the schedule
Set the daily run count, the time window and the interval between runs. The task then runs unattended on schedule.
- 3
Review the results
Check each device's results in the logs; failures point to the exact step that went wrong.
Troubleshooting
Common issues
- The device manager shows no devices
- Make sure the phone is unlocked and that you tapped Trust on the "Trust This Computer?" prompt. If it still does not appear, try another cable or USB port and click Refresh again.
- "Certificate not found for device"
- The folder name in the certificate directory must exactly match the device's UDID, and the folder must contain both a .p12 and a .mobileprovision file.
- Signing or installation fails
- Check that the provisioning profile includes this device's UDID, that the certificate has not expired, and that the password in the .txt file is correct. The ios.log file next to the tool records the details.
- Activation fails or times out
- Confirm that WebDriverAgent is installed, Developer Mode is on and the phone is unlocked, then reconnect the cable and activate again.
- The app shows the server as disconnected
- Check the phone's network connection, confirm your account details, then sign out on the Settings tab and connect again.
